Good morning from the starved suburbs of the oldest capital in the world..beautiful Damascus. A new baby losing its life due to starvation. But I guess it’s not as sexy as Gaza so people turn a blind eye to the almost 1 year siege (and almost 2 year siege on some areas of Homs)
How many are even aware that children in the suburbs of Damascus are under severe siege with their families imposed by the Assad regime because their areas are against the crimes of the regime? How many are aware that daily these kids are dying of hunger? How many are aware that anyone who tries to bring food to these areas is being detained and tortured to death? How many are aware that the one time people were allowed in and out of one of the suburbs – Yarmouk camp – those returning with food for their families were stripped of all food and forced to return into the siege. The regime checkpoints are positioned around each suburb bombing onto the suburbs and also imposing a siege.
Remember how we screamed our lungs out for Gaza? Gathered aid for those under siege? Activists across the world even went down to the borders and camped..others went by sea..tell me what has been done for this forgotten siege? Activism is an abused word. Humanitarianism is an abused word.
So little even know of the siege.
